FDA approves drug to reduce HIV risk

Truvada has been shown in studies to cut transmission of the virus that causes AIDS by up to 75%. Some fear its approval could encourage unprotected sex. WASHINGTON — The Food and Drug Administration approved a drug Monday that could dramatically reduce the risk of contracting HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, among high-risk groups.
