Mammogram guidelines based on risks, personal preference

A new study lays out a more complex approach to breast cancer screenings than current age-based guidelines: Women 40 to 49 with high breast density and a close relative with breast cancer should be screened every two years — but a woman's feelings about mammograms also should be taken into account.Some women need mammograms more frequently than others, and guidelines should reflect those individual risk profiles, according to authors of a new study on the always-controversial issue of screening for breast cancer.
