FDA admits error in fast approval of knee implant

The agency, lobbied by congressmen, had allowed the Menaflex Collagen Scaffold to get a fast-track approval, over the objections of FDA scientists who sought more rigorous evaluations. ReGen may be able to apply again.The Food and Drug Administration acknowledged Thursday that it made a mistake in overruling its scientists and approving a knee implant after the agency was lobbied by four members of Congress.
