Beam-beam compensation scheme doubles proton-proton collision rates

Accelerator physicists have successfully implemented an innovative scheme for increasing proton collision rates at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. More proton collisions produce more data for scientists to sift through to answer important nuclear physics questions, including the search for the source of proton spin.
