Habitual baby-killing is being thwarted by promiscuous females and big balls

From the mouse to the lion, many mammal species engage in infanticide, where dominant males compete by killing off each other's babies. But a new study has discovered that a sexual arms race could be phasing out this violent behaviour, with the females becoming promiscuous to force the males to compete with their sperm instead.
