SLAC particle physicist discusses the search for new physics

Thursday, June 8, 2017 - 05:32 in Physics & Chemistry

The Standard Model of particle physics describes the properties and interactions of the constituents of matter. The development of this theory began in the early 1960s, and in 2012 the last piece of the puzzle was solved by the discovery of the Higgs boson at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN in Switzerland. Experiments have confirmed time and again the Standard Model's very accurate predictions.
