Hawaii Approves Plan for Giant Telescope Atop Dormant Volcano

A giant proposed telescope has been given the green light to be built atop the Hawaiian peak of Mauna Kea. The Thirty Meter Telescope will be one of the largest, most powerful in the world when it starts making observations in a decade or so.
