A longstanding quest in medicine has been to understand how the same disease presents differently among various patients. Although it has been thought that a central aspect of these differences is a heterogeneity between single cells within a large population of cells, it has remained a challenge to visualize this heterogeneity for a better understanding of single-cell biology. In a new study published in BMC Genomics, researchers from the University of Tsukuba reveal that they have developed a novel tool that enables the visualization of how single cells handle and process RNA.
