Engineer to Develop Models for "Self-Healing" Materials

UIC materials engineer Eduard Karpov has received a $400,000 National Science Foundation grant to help develop methods to create models that can be used to make so-called "self-healing" materials that repair cracks and other defects in critical structures such as aircraft, medical implants and roadways.
