A highway safety research group says occupants may suffer fewer injuries in crashes because of the vehicles' added weight, but their quiet electric motors have become a safety hazard for walkers.Hybrid cars are safer — or more dangerous — depending on whether you are behind the wheel or walking across a street, according to a study released Thursday.
