Tesla to build electric cars at Northern California plant

Toyota invests $50 million in the venture. Unhappy Downey officials say Tesla had indicated it would put its factory there. Tesla Motors Inc., bolstered by a $50-million investment from Toyota Motor Corp., will start making electric cars next year at a recently closed plant in Northern California.
