Non-native genes create more trouble for endangered Atlantic salmon

A program to prevent the extinction of endangered Atlantic salmon in the inner Bay of Fundy has helped maintain numbers in a few rivers but after 15 years, efforts to rebuild the stock have failed and non-native genes have mixed into the population, according to an assessment released by Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
