People in Chennai, the capital of India's southern Tamil Nadu state, are wading through floodwaters left after nearly 35 centimetres of rain — the most in 100 years — fell in a 24-hour period beginning on Tuesday. A break in the weather has finally let rescue crews through after days of being stranded.
