As the booming cellphone market heated up with the launch of Apple's critically acclaimed iPhone in 2007, Samsung Electronics Inc. chose to copy its rival's design rather than innovate its own products, a lawyer for Apple told the jury at a patent trial involving the two tech giants Tuesday.
