'Superflares' Likely Made Proxima b Uninhabitable Long Ago

Immensely powerful flares from Proxima b's parent star — the red dwarf Proxima Centauri, which is the sun's nearest neighbor — likely drove the oxygen out of the alien world's atmosphere just 10 million or so years after its birth.
