Twelve weeks in a low-intensity collaborative care program improved depression symptoms and reduced anxiety in heart disease patients. A collaborative care program for depression uses a non-physician care manager to coordinate treatment among the patient, primary doctor and a psychiatrist. The study is the first to begin the collaborative care program in the hospital and the first to target a wide range of cardiac conditions.
