Two supernovae at the edge of the Universe

Cosmologists from the University of California - Irvine have found two supernovae farther away than any previously detected by using a new technique that could help find other dying stars at the edge of the Universe. The discovery is published in the most recent issue (9 July) of the journal Nature. The supernovae occurred 11 billion years ago.
