Gliomas are malignant brain tumours that arise from glial (supporting) cells of the brain. Gliomas are often resistant to chemotherapy. These tumours grow fine extensions that infiltrate normal brain tissue and, in addition, individual tumour cells can form satellites in surrounding tissue.
