Apparently, robots like road trips. A Canadian robot, hitchBOT started out on a cross-country road trip today, planning to travel from Boston, all the way out to San Francisco, sightseeing along the way.Last year hitchBOT traversed Canada going from Halifax to British Columbia. It has also visited Europe, touring Germany and the Netherlands.HitchBOT is equipped with a GPS, a camera, and software that allows it to have actual conversations with the people giving it rides. It can't move though, so it relies on people to pick it up and take it to where it needs to go--in this case, the Exploratorium in San Francisco.HitchBOT already has its first ride out of Boston:You can follow hitchBot's progress on its website and social media channels.
