Server Cluster to Be Powered by Giant Wind Farms
Texas company Baryonyx has plans to build a 28,000-square-foot data center in Stratford, Texas, which will be powered by 38,000 acres of offshore wind turbines, and another 8,000 acres of onshore turbines. The data center will initially run on power from 150 onshore wind turbines, which will be located near the facility, in the panhandle of Texas. But over time the center will add more machines and require the power of 450 more offshore turbines, which will sit in the Gulf of Mexico, and will be capable of generating far more power. Each of these turbines is capable of generating between 3.3 and 6 megawatts of power. Baryonyx also has plans to invest in fuel-cell and solar technology, for when wind power is not enough.
