Transit of Venus humbles stargazers

Atop Mt. Wilson, awe and history mingle as viewers savor the twice-in-a-lifetime journey of Venus across the sun's surface.The temperature on Mt. Wilson on Tuesday night had dropped to 48 degrees as stargazers and their entourages packed up telescopes and paraphernalia from the late-spring bacchanal celebrating the transit of Venus.
