BP wins OK for exploration plan in Gulf of Mexico

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management approves the plan under tighter rules developed after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Permits are still required for any drilling.BP won approval from the Interior Department for a plan to explore for oil and gas in deep-water areas of the Gulf of Mexico, moving the company closer to drilling new wells barred after the blowout of its Macondo well touched off the country's worst offshore environmental disaster.
