Ten of thousands of old crab traps removed from Chesapeake Bay

In an effort to help restore the crab population, Virginia watermen have collected more than 28,000 of the so-called ghost pots as part of a program funded by the federal government.In 2008, the federal government gave Virginia $15 million to help restore the Chesapeake Bay crab population, which had plummeted to record lows because of overharvesting, loss of habitat and pollution.
