The case against menthols

An FDA panel says young people who try menthol cigarettes are more likely to get hooked, but it stops short of recommending an outright ban. Menthol cigarettes are "cool" — literally and figuratively. They soften the harshness of tobacco smoke, and their popularity continues to increase, particularly among young people and African Americans. Some health experts feel it's high time they were banned.
