Water quality improving at California's beaches

Heal the Bay finds cleaner beaches across the state — especially at the Santa Monica Pier, which earned an A this year after five straight summers of Fs. But funding for water-quality testing is in jeopardy.Water quality at California beaches has continued to show improvement, even as the future of monitoring programs remains uncertain because of state budget shortfalls, according to a report released Wednesday by Heal the Bay.
