Stocks zigzag as European economy fuels fears

The Dow briefly drops below 9,920 before quickly reversing course and hovering near Thursday's close of 10,068. Investors are concerned that Europe's debt crisis could spread to the U.S. Uncertainty about the European economy carried over into the stock markets Friday morning, with share prices whipping back and forth in early trading a day after the steepest declines in over a year.
