Stabbed L.A. city firefighter misses 'paramedic of the year' ceremony

A city firefighter who was scheduled to pick up an award by a hospital as its "paramedic of the year" was unable to attend the ceremony Thursday because he was still recovering from being stabbed multiple times at a downtown hotel, Los Angeles fire officials said.
