Of rooks and rocks: Birds live up to their fabled reputation

Members of the crow family figure out how to use stones to raise the water level -- just as Aesop described. In a modern retelling of one of Aesop's fables, British researchers have shown that members of the crow family can use tools to retrieve a worm that they wouldn't otherwise be able to reach.
