Huge Halos Around Many Quasars During Survey Surprises Astronomers | Images + Visualization

Using the MUSE instrument on ESO's Very Large Telescope in Chile, astronomers have discovered 19 quasars with large bright halos of gas surrounding them. According to their statistics, they only expected to find 2 halos in their survey.
