Study delves into regulators' decision-making in bank closures

Commercial bank regulators consider much more than monetary cost when determining whether to close a troubled bank, a new report states. According to the study, regulators show a desire to defer costs into the future and appear to resist closing very large and very small banks. The study also found political influence affected their decisions.
