Losing protein helps heart recover, say scientists

Scientists have identified a key target they hope will help stave off the potentially harmful effects of remodeling that often occurs as that heart attempts to regain some of its former function after a heart attack. They have shown that by turning off the activity of a protein, GSK-3±, in the heart cells of mice that have had heart attacks, they can prevent remodeling, preserve function and improve survival.
