Research links prescribed burning to reduced tick populations

In the spring, summer and early fall months, lone star ticks, the most common type of tick in Georgia, spike in activity and may transmit pathogens that could cause disease in humans. According to newly published University of Georgia research, tick populations can be managed through a technique called prescribed burning.
