Researchers find clues to the Baltic Crusades in animal bones, horses and the extinct aurochs

(Phys.org)—A multidisciplinary project seeks to understand the Eastern Baltic Crusades through the lens of ecology. Horses, for example, aided the Christians in battle, while the castles the Crusaders built decimated forests.
