Ovarian Cancer Research and Awareness Remain a Focus at Cedars-Sinai

When Julie Miller, 38, learned she was a carrier of the BRCA gene, a genetic mutation that greatly increases a woman's risk of developing breast and ovarian cancers, she opted to undergo prophylactic surgeries to remove her breasts, ovaries and fallopian tubes. And she became an advocate for women's cancer research and awareness, registering to participate in clinical research and lacing up her running shoes for the "Run for Her 5K Run and Friendship Walk" to help raise research funds and public awareness for women's cancers.
