CWRU Wins Grant to Wean Sustainable Energy Off Oil

Case Western Reserve University has won a $3.8 million grant to lead a new international effort reducing oil dependency: building wind turbine blades and solar panels from biomaterials. Scientists and engineers will first improve the quality and performance of existing materials then gradually replace unsustainable ingredients with those derived from plants, bacteria and fungi.
