Mental health workers overwhelmed since Mumbai attacks

India has 1.1 billion people, but only 4,000 psychiatrists. Many Indians traumatized by last month's terrorist attacks search out traditional treatments instead. Since the gruesome Mumbai terrorist attacks, mental health experts understandably have been in big demand here. But India, with 1.1 billion people, has only 4,000 psychiatrists, and efforts to provide adequate professional help for those traumatized by the rampage is proving a daunting task.
