Weighing commercially raised food's toll on the environment

I found your article on organics to be broad-minded and, overall, balanced ["Putting Organic to the Cost Test," Dec. 1]. However, when you take into account the true cost to the environment of most conventionally grown produce (pollutants that compromise health, reliance on fossil fuel-based pesticides, soil microorganism depletion) you may find that organics are the better choice.
