NASA axes X-ray telescope

NASA has cancelled the Gravity and Extreme Magnetism Small Explorer mission, or GEMS, which was supposed to blast off in 2014 to study black holes and neutron stars but was projected to cost up to 30 per cent more than its $119 million US budget.
