I really didn't want to have to publish this, but some of the comments I'm getting on my last article make me feel compelled to do so. Ubiquitous affluence may not solve the world's problems, but I can tell you that poverty and the human suffering entailed in it engenders discontent and envy, two of the seeds of violent revolution as is the lack of personal freedoms and human rights. When 1% of the world's population has over 90% of the wealth, while at the same time depriving individuals more and more of the right to choose the course of their own lives by manipulating the system through corruption, that alone can sow the seeds of war. read more
