Hidden in the New Jersey Pine Barrens near the northeastern megalopolis that extends from New York City to Washington, D.C., a previously unknown species of the North American leafhopper genus Flexamia was recently discovered. The charismatic insect is the first one to have been reported from the threatened pinebarren smokegrass, Muhlenbergia torreyana.
