There's no place like gnome for this scientist!

There aren't too many gardens at the South Pole. But there are, apparently, garden gnomes.  One globe-trotting little garden gnome dubbed "Kern," who has a scientific bent, recently visited Amundsen-Scott Research Station at the geographic South Pole in Antarctica.
