After the wealthy community of Surfridge was wiped off the map by the airport, native plants were reintroduced and the endangered insects made a comeback. Soon, more land will be restored.The remains of what was once one of Los Angeles' most coveted neighborhoods can be seen behind a fence topped with barbed wire.
