South Bay beaches hit by swarms of kelp flies

Seaweed on the sand draws the insects, which lay their eggs on the dead plants. Lifeguards say there are more of the flies than usual this year.June gloom might not be the only thing keeping people away from beaches in the South Bay this weekend.
