DRCLAS receives Sovereign Bank gift

The David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies (DRCLAS) at Harvard has received a generous gift from Sovereign Bank, a retail and commercial bank that is a subsidiary of Banco Santander. This gift establishes an agreement to continue to sustain and expand core programmatic activities at the center. As a central contribution to the Banco Santander Fund for Latin American Studies at DRCLAS, the gift will underwrite the Santander Student Mobility Fund and the Santander International Mobility Faculty Grants, providing conference, internship, research, student organization, and travel grants for students, while enabling the research by Harvard faculty on a wide range of disciplines, including science, technology, and medicine. During the next three years, this gift will also allow for distinguished academics and professionals from Latin America to spend a semester or a year at Harvard as the Santander Visiting Scholar and to work on diverse topics related to the region.
