U.S. research community says new indirect cost model is still too complicated

An initiative by university leaders to revamp how the U.S. government reimburses universities for what they spend to support research on their campuses has run into opposition—from other university leaders. At an online town hall this week held by the Joint Associations Group on Indirect Costs (JAG) to discuss its proposal for a Financial Accountability in Research (FAIR) Model , research administrators voiced multiple concerns.
