Is there a word--in English, anyway--for what this polar bear cub, seeing snow for the first time, must be experiencing? Does it know, somewhere inside, that this is its real landscape, not whatever came before it? Is the bear as overwhelmed by this discovery as it seems to me, or is that a projection on my part?
