MIT Campaign for a Better World ends FY16 with $2.9 billion

In May, MIT President L. Rafael Reif announced the public launch of the MIT Campaign for a Better World, an ambitious fundraising effort that aims to advance the Institute's ability to address some of the world's greatest challenges. The Campaign seeks to raise $5 billion and began its public phase with $2.6 billion already raised toward its goal. Thanks to the enthusiasm of MIT alumni and friends, the Institute had a strong finish to fiscal year 2016, closing with $529 million in new gifts and pledges and $2.9 billion raised in the Campaign.  "We have made great progress toward our very ambitious goal," says Julie Lucas, MIT's vice president for resource development.
