Experimental drug may help some autism cases, researchers say

Patients with the rare genetic disorder fragile X syndrome, who account for 2% of autism cases, showed improved sociability when taking a drug known as STX209, researchers say. An experimental drug can improve sociability in patients with fragile X syndrome and may be helpful as a treatment for autism, according to the authors of a new study.
