A brief election day message to Facebook users encouraged a third of a million more people to vote in the 2010 midterm congressional election, researchers say. The message worked best when close friends passed it on.Finally, scientists have documented that spending time on Facebook isn't all about posting pictures of cute kids and running virtual farms — it can actually be useful to American society.
