Scientific consortium awards $16.5M to fund projects fighting COVID

A scientific consortium formed to fight COVID-19 has awarded $16.5 million to 62 research projects focused on aspects of the pandemic ranging from vaccines and treatments to explorations of immunity to divining its still-unknown reach across society. The projects’ common feature is that all have the potential to impact patients within the next 12 months. The awards, by the Harvard-led Massachusetts Consortium on Pathogen Readiness (MassCPR), come at a moment when additional tools to fight the novel coronavirus are badly needed.
